Nico Perrino's work experience includes various roles in communications and advocacy. Nico began their career as a Summer Intern at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression in 2010. In 2011, they served as a Sales & Marketing Intern at Indiana University Press. From 2012 to 2013, they worked as a Program Associate and Assistant to the President at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression. In 2012, they also held a role as a Communications Management Assistant at Hirons & Company.
In 2014, Perrino joined the Institute for Justice as a Communications Coordinator. Nico then returned to the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression in 2015, starting as an Associate Director of Communications before moving up to Director of Communications in 2016. In the same year, they worked as a Creative Consultant for the documentary "Can We Take a Joke?" exploring the collision of stand-up comedy and outrage in the age of social media.
Perrino's experience in documentary work continued in 2018 when they became Co-Director and Senior Producer of the documentary "Mighty Ira," focusing on the life and work of former ACLU Executive Director Ira Glasser. In 2020, they were promoted to Vice President of Communications at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, followed by Senior Vice President in 2022. Additionally, in August 2022, Perrino took on the role of Executive Vice President at the same organization.
Throughout their career, Perrino has demonstrated a strong advocacy for free speech and defending the rights of individuals.
Nico Perrino pursued their education at Indiana University Bloomington from 2008 to 2012. Nico earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a focus on History during this period.
