Marcus Carey

Marcus Carey's work experience begins with their current role as a Senior Software Engineer at Firebend, where they started in January 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Willdan from July 2021 to January 2022, serving as a Software Development Project Manager. In this role, Marcus acted as a servant leader, managing multiple distributed development teams to successfully transform a proof of concept into a production-ready MVP. Marcus held responsibilities as a technical lead, scrum master, and project manager.

Before Willdan, Marcus worked at Two Times Solutions LLC from October 2019 to July 2021, where they served as the Managing Partner/CTO. Marcus played a key role in architecting and developing the tapintwo SaaS platform, providing affordable web applications to small businesses. The platform offered features such as online stores, mobile payments, and real-time transactional communication without the need for customers to download an application.

From February 2017 to October 2019, Marcus worked at The Genesis Group as a Development Team Lead. Prior to this role, they were a Web Developer at the same company from September 2014 to October 2019. Their responsibilities included creating business intelligence solutions for the trunking industry, utilizing modern web technologies. Marcus implemented agile and continuous integration methodologies to improve code quality, time to market, and development processes. Marcus also automated test cases using powershell and automation frameworks to expedite regression testing.

Marcus began their career at CitalicS in January 2011 as a Web Developer and SEO Analyst. In their role as an SEO Analyst, they focused on increasing web traffic to clients' websites using strategies such as meta tags, link backs, site submission to search engines, and content distribution. Marcus also generated reports and statistics to track growth and optimize efforts for maximum productivity.

Prior to their role at CitalicS, Marcus worked at RGIS as a Smartspace Supervisor from May 2013 to August 2014. In this role, they managed a team responsible for mapping retail locations using CAD software, capturing fixtures, store layout, and product placement. Marcus developed automation scripts to enhance team performance.

At the start of their career, Marcus worked as a Sales Associate at Walmart from April 2011 to January 2013.

Marcus Carey attended Kent State University from 2009 to 2010, where they studied Computer Science. Marcus then went on to Tyler Junior College from 2011 to 2013, where they pursued a double major in Computer Science and Music.
