John Sandy is an accomplished aerospace software professional currently serving as Flight Software Manager at Firefly Aerospace since January 2023, after previously holding the role of Senior Software Engineer at Lockheed Martin from September 2020 to January 2023, where leadership of an embedded software engineering team in an agile scrum environment was a key responsibility. Prior experience includes working as a Senior Software Specialist and Senior Software Engineer at L3Harris Technologies, where the development of simulation models for aircraft subsystems was a focus, as well as earlier roles involving Java software development for ISR systems and experimental research positions at UC Irvine, Texas Tech University, and Fermilab. Sandy holds a Master’s Degree in Experimental Physics from UC Irvine and a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from Texas Tech University, along with experience studying Japanese at Osaka Gakuin University.
