Benjamin Giles

Additive Manufacturing Engineer II at Firehawk Aerospace

Benjamin Giles has a diverse work experience in engineering and wilderness guiding. Benjamin started their career at Compass Wilderness as a Wilderness Guide in 2015. In 2017, they worked as a Commercial Programs Engineering Intern at Bell Helicopter. Starting in 2018, Benjamin joined Bell Flight as an Innovation Engineer I and worked there until 2021. During their time at Bell Flight, they gained experience in additive manufacturing. In 2021, Benjamin joined Firehawk Aerospace as an Additive Manufacturing Engineer, where they contributed to various projects including the design and manufacturing of a rocket engine test platform. Benjamin also developed optimized manufacturing processes, performed quality control inspections, and created databases and scripts to improve efficiency and reduce defects. Benjamin's work at Firehawk Aerospace involved assessing machine performance and recommending additional equipment, resulting in decreased build failures. Their expertise and contributions in additive manufacturing demonstrate their ability to develop and implement engineering processes and standards.

Benjamin Giles pursued their Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Baylor University from 2014 to 2018. Following this, they enrolled at Penn State University from 2020 to 2022 to obtain a Master of Engineering degree in Additive Manufacturing and Design.
