Nelson Powell

Nelson Powell has extensive work experience in the agriculture and finance industry. Nelson is currently serving as the Senior Vice President of Agriculture & Commercial Lending at First Bank and Trust Company since June 2022. Prior to this role, Nelson worked at Rabo AgriFinance from 2015 to 2022 as the VP and Senior Relationship Manager. Nelson also held the position of Branch Manager, Relationship Manager, and VP at Cape Fear Farm Credit from 2005 to 2015. Nelson's previous experience includes working as the SVP of Grower Relations Director at Murphy-Brown LLC from 2002 to 2005, a Conservationist at USDA NRCS - Sampson Soil & Water Conservation from 2001 to 2002, and the East Coast Consultation & Relationship Director at East Coast Agri-Technologies from 1998 to 2001. Nelson began their career as an intern at Agri-Technologies in 1997 and also served as a Student Intern at John Deere in 1996. Nelson started their professional journey as an intern in the Corporate Internship Program at Prestage Farms in 1995, gaining valuable experience in various departments.

Nelson Powell has a Bachelor's degree in Business & Marketing from North Carolina State University, which they obtained from 1994 to 1998. In 2017, they completed the Rural Leadership Development Program in Educational Leadership & Development at Rabobank Global Learning - Australia. Additionally, from 2013 to 2015, they studied Executive Leadership Development, specializing in Foundations of Leadership, at Farm Credit University. Finally, in 2014, Nelson Powell received a certification in Team Leadership Coaching from The Integrity Coach, through their Fast Track Team Leadership Coaching Program.
