Thanos Kontos is a Physiotherapist and Scientific Director of First Contact Physio in Palaio Faliro, a globally recognized model physiotherapy center. The clinic is one of only 32 Certified McKenzie Clinics worldwide, a distinction that ensures services are delivered according to the highest international standards of clinical practice in the McKenzie Method (Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy – MDT).He is an International McKenzie Instructor and a member of the global McKenzie education faculty, teaching the method to healthcare professionals while remaining actively engaged with the latest international scientific developments in musculoskeletal care.He holds an MSc in Pain Management (Algology) from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), with a strong focus on pain neuroscience and the modern management of complex and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. In addition, he has clinical experience as a member of the multidisciplinary Pain Clinic team at Nikaia General Hospital, managing cases that had not responded to conventional treatment approaches.His clinical philosophy emphasizes patient empowerment and self-management. Through individualized assessment and education, he helps patients understand the mechanisms of their pain and equips them with practical strategies to achieve recovery and prevent future relapses in everyday life.He specializes in the assessment and rehabilitation of spinal disorders, including low back pain, neck pain, disc herniation, sciatica, and radiculopathy, as well as chronic pain management, sports injury rehabilitation — particularly for runners and athletes — and post-operative rehabilitation aimed at a safe and efficient return to daily and athletic activities.
