Jelikatu Kamara possesses extensive experience in the field of social work, currently serving as a Community Support Worker at First Home Care Therapeutic since September 2014. Responsibilities include providing direct services to youth aged 5-21 with mental health diagnoses, managing crises, conducting home and school visits, and offering case management and family support. Jelikatu has engaged with various stakeholders, including probation officers and teachers, and has developed comprehensive treatment and safety plans. Prior experience as a Social Work Intern at Orangeburg Area Mental Health involved individual and group therapy, activity planning, and report preparation. Jelikatu holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from South Carolina State University.

First Home Care is a licensed Therapeutic Foster Care provider that operates from four locations though out the state of Virginia including Tidewater, Richmond, Alexandria and Roanoke. We offer foster care and adoption services for children who require out-of-home, community-based placement in a family setting. First Home Care strives to provide comprehensive, coordinated and nurturing care that is provided in the homes of our trained treatment families with support, supervision and 24-hour crisis intervention available from mental health professionals. Our therapeutic/specialized foster parents, trained in the Parent Skills Training (PST) model, offer caring and nurturing home environments that support children as they develop life skills, improve socialization skills, learn to succeed in school and develop a positive self-image.
