Krunal Desai has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Krunal is a Co-Founder and Vice President of Research and Development at First Mode since 2018, where they oversee technology architecture and product definition for zero-emission products. Krunal also co-founded Nerd Nite Seattle in 2015 and served as Co-Boss until 2020, organizing monthly events with engaging speakers on nerdy topics. Prior to that, Krunal worked at Planetary Resources, Inc. as a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer from 2013 to 2017, focusing on spacecraft avionics research and development. Krunal also worked at A&D Technology as a Hardware Engineer from 2010 to 2013, specializing in high-performance computing devices and peripherals. Krunal's experience also includes roles at Penguicon, where they served as the Programming Track Head from 2010 to 2013, and as a Consultant for various hardware and software projects from 2008 to 2011 as a self-employed individual. Krunal has a background in engineering and project management from their time at Kettering University, where they worked as an Engineer/Project Manager and Researcher on different projects related to controls design and mobile development platforms. Krunal also gained experience as a Software/Hardware Engineer at Continental, where they focused on automotive electronics and software development from 2006 to 2009.

Krunal Desai holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington, which they obtained in the years 2014 to 2017. Prior to that, they earned two Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees, one in Electrical Engineering and another in Computer Engineering, from Kettering University in the years 2006 to 2010. Krunal also holds an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification from the NCEES institution.
