Thomas M. Whitesel

Chief Risk Officer at First National Bank

Thomas M. Whitesel is Chief Risk Officer for F.N.B. Corporation. His responsibilities include working with executive management and the Board of Directors to define and communicate the Company’s risk appetite while overseeing the development and execution of FNB’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) processes across the organization. These processes include appraisal and loan review; information and cyber security; fraud, model and vendor risk management; disaster recovery; and compliance with Anti-Money Laundering laws, the Community Reinvestment Act, Bank Secrecy Act and other regulatory policies.

In 2004, Whitesel joined FNB as the Director of Risk Management. He has more than 35 years of risk management experience. He previously served as Director of Risk Management for KPMG, specializing in advisory services for credit risk and allowance methodologies to various large banks throughout the U.S. and globally. He also held positions in corporate planning and acquisitions as well as other risk related roles for several banks. Whitesel began his banking career as an examiner for the Comptroller of the Currency.

A graduate of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, Whitesel holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance.
