Brittany Barker is an accomplished Senior Scientist at First Nations Health Authority, focusing on Indigenizing harm reduction strategies to alleviate substance use-related harms within First Nation communities in British Columbia. With extensive experience as a Research Scientist at the BC Centre on Substance Use and a background as a Project Coordinator and Postdoctoral Fellow, Brittany has led significant research initiatives evaluating the province's response to the overdose epidemic. Previous roles include Research Specialist and Peer Engagement Lead at InSource Research Group, where Brittany engaged with individuals affected by substance use to assess harm reduction and support services. Additional experience encompasses contributions as a Research Assistant at the Urban Health Research Initiative, Graduate Teaching Assistant at Simon Fraser University, and Project Manager for the BC Ministry of Health, coupled with a strong educational foundation, including a Ph.D. in Public Health from The University of British Columbia and a Master of Public Policy from Simon Fraser University.
