Gavin Ashley

Gavin Ashley serves as the Director of Group Technical at First Quantum Minerals since January 2016, where responsibilities include coordinating and enhancing asset management across various sites and operations, with a focus on improving maintenance execution and planning for mobile equipment and fixed plant assets. Previously, Gavin held roles such as Operations Manager for Projects and Regional Manager for Projects and Operations, overseeing project execution and supporting engineering and talent development. Gavin's extensive experience includes significant project management positions on the $6.3 billion Cobre Panama project and the $5 billion Koniambo Nickel Project at Xstrata Nickel. Additional experience as a project management consultant and involvement in project controls and procurement with E2C Bridge further showcase a commitment to improving project delivery performance. Academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Information Technology and a Bachelor of Engineering with Honors in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Western Australia.
