At First Step Solutions, we’re here to help your business to thrive—through innovative, smarter approaches to health, safety, and growth-focused strategies. We believe that every business, regardless of size, can leverage health and safety to drive success and performance, not just compliance.

Founded by Richmond Johnston and Nat Bunlee, we identified a gap in New Zealand’s business landscape: too often, health and safety was viewed as a box-ticking exercise driven by fear, rather than as a key foundation for sustainable growth. Our mission is to turn this mindset around.

With over 15 years of combined experience working with WorkSafe New Zealand, our team brings the regulatory insight and extensive private sector expertise necessary to build tailored, impactful solutions. Our backgrounds in programme and project management, ICT, strategy, and innovation enable us to tackle each challenge from multiple angles.

At First Step Solutions, our goal is simple: to make health, safety, and wellbeing easy to understand and implement, empowering your business to succeed. Let us bring fresh perspectives, innovative solutions, and real impact to your operations. Together, we’ll transform how you approach health and safety, turning it into a strategic asset that drives your growth.

Your success is our success, and we’re here to partner with you every step of the way.
