Matt Cassell

Matt Cassell has extensive experience in the banking industry, with a focus on commercial banking. Matt currently holds the role of Chief Banking Officer at First Western Trust since 2023. Prior to that, they were the President of Commercial Banking at First Western Trust from 2020 to 2023.

Before joining First Western Trust, Matt worked at Simmons Bank where they served as the President of the Colorado market from 2015 to 2020, leading a team that provided various financial services including commercial banking, retail banking, wealth management, and more.

Matt also gained experience at Community Banks of Colorado as a Market President from 2011 to 2015, Vectra Bank Colorado as a Commercial Banking associate from 2009 to 2011, and Vectra Bank as the North Metro Business Banking Manager from 2009 to 2010.

Earlier in their career, Matt worked at FirsTier Bank as a Senior Vice President and Commercial Banking Manager, responsible for assembling a high-performing commercial banking team. Matt also worked at Commercial Federal as a Commercial Banking Relationship Manager, focusing on acquiring new relationships and structuring financing.

Furthermore, they gained experience at Compass Bank as a Corporate Banking associate and Bank One as a Vice President of Business Banking and Retail Management, where they consistently achieved high sales goals and demonstrated strong portfolio growth through strategic partnerships and community involvement.

Matt Cassell attended Bonanza from 1989 to 1993. Matt then went on to attend Colorado Christian University from 1993 to 1997, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management.
