Rebecca W. Carter

Rebecca W. Carter, MSN, R.N., FACHE, joined FirstHealth of the Carolinas and Montgomery Memorial Hospital in December 2019. She has more than 20 years of senior hospital management experience. Prior to joining FirstHealth, she served as chief executive officer and chief nursing officer for Blue Ridge Regional Hospital for five years. She also served for 17 years as a chief operating officer and chief nursing officer for Transylvania Regional Hospital, a rural acute care facility in Brevard, North Carolina. She previously served as director of clinical education, support, and development at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville for eight years. Carter’s career also includes experience working as a staff nurse and in nursing education.

Carter holds undergraduate and graduates degrees in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was inducted into the American College of Healthcare Executives in 2005 and was named to Becker’s Healthcare 70 CEOs, presidents, and administrators of critical access hospitals to know.
