Spencer co-founded firstminute with Brent Hoberman CBE in February 2016. The firstminute investor base includes over 120 unicorn founders of technology businesses.

Spencer sits on the board of Generation Home, a UK digital mortgage lender launched in October 2020, and is a Director of the Tailwind SPAC platform, which has launched three public companies with a combined market cap of over $1bn (Tailwind International, NYSE: TWNI ; Tailwind Two, NYSE: TWNT).

Spencer started his career at Goldman Sachs in Moscow in the Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities division, before becoming the first hire at DMC Partners, a Special Opportunities fund spun out of Goldman Sachs. The firm was founded by Goldman Sach’s Global Co-Head of Trading & Securities, the Global Co-Head of Strategies & Structuring, and the CEO of the Russia & CIS business, alongside the former Head of TPG of Europe and CFO of Index Ventures. This was followed by an MBA at INSEAD, and a stint in the Munich office of AppDirect, the cloud commerce platform-provider.

Spencer studied History at Exeter College, Oxford, where he received the Waugh scholarship, and speaks fluent Russian.
