Ryan Thorne

Ryan Thorne has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning various roles in the legal and financial sectors. Ryan started their career as a Solicitor at Mallesons Stephen Jaques in 2006 before moving on to Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer as an Associate in 2008. In 2011, they joined King & Wood Mallesons as a Senior Associate and later took on the role of Managing Associate (secondee) in 2015. Thorne then worked as a Legal Counsel (secondee) at Macquarie Group in 2013.

Moving forward, Thorne joined Woolworths Group in 2016, where they served as Group Counsel for the Home Improvement Exit and then as a Senior Lawyer (Consulting) for M&A. During this time, they also worked as a Senior M&A Advisor at Toro Liberty.

In 2019, Thorne joined BlackRock, where they served as part of the Financial Markets Advisory - Legal & Compliance team, focusing on BlackRock's EMEA operations and providing advice on corporate, legal, and operational matters. Ryan left BlackRock in 2021.

Thorne's recent work experience includes roles at Stonebridge as General Counsel, Seven Legal as a Senior Consultant, and FisherBroyles, LLP as a Legal Consultant, all starting in 2020.

Ryan Thorne completed their Bachelor of Commerce and LLB (Hons I) degrees from the University of Sydney, specializing in Accounting and Management. Ryan attended the university from 2000 to 2004. Later on, in 2010 and 2011, they pursued a Masters of Applied Finance degree with a focus on Corporate Finance, Investment Management, and Wealth Management at Kaplan Professional (formerly FINSIA).
