Hanae Matsui

As the SALT senior project manager, Hanae supports the team’s operations and communications efforts. Growing up in both Japan and the U.S., she focused her career on bridging the seafood industry’s cultural differences. Before joining FishWise, Hanae worked at Seafood Legacy, a Tokyo-based sustainable seafood consultancy, where she led the company’s communication strategy and capacity development. She also developed many toolkits for the Japanese market by applying lessons learned from the U.S. and EU sustainable seafood movement. Hanae holds a Bachelor of Science in marine biology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Outside work, Hanae is an advocate for dog rescue. She works with local rescue groups and has fostered many dogs with special needs.
