João Portela

João Portela has a diverse work experience, having worked in a variety of roles since 2009. In 2009, they were a Google Summer of Code student for OpenMRS. In 2010, they were a Google Summer of Code student for Dreamwidth Studios, LLC. In 2011, they were a Google Summer of Code student for OpenMRS again, where they designed and developed the HTML Form Entry Designer. From 2012 to 2013, they worked as a Front End Developer for Blip.pt / Betfair, where they were involved in the creation of the Betfair Sportsbook web application. In 2013, they worked as a Senior Developer for Imaginary Cloud, where they were the Tech Lead on the Broadwand project. From 2014 to 2015, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer for InVision, where they worked on InVision Studio, Studio's Platform API, Motion, several micro-services, Slack API Integration, and the legacy InVision app. Finally, in 2020, they started working as a Staff Engineer and Lead Software Engineer for Fitbod, where they built the architecture and tech stack for the web app.

João Portela obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Informatics and Computing Engineering from the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto between 2007 and 2012. In 2017, they obtained an FCE - English Grade A - C1 from Cambridge English Language Assessment. In 2013, they obtained a Certified ScrumMaster from ScrumAlliance.
