Thiago Marzagão has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Thiago is currently serving as the Lead Data Scientist at Fitbod since November 2021. Prior to that, Thiago worked at the Brazilian Office of the Comptroller General (CGU) as a Data Scientist from May 2016 to November 2021. In this role, they trained a model that assisted the Comptroller-General of Brazil in selecting municipalities to audit, with a significant auditable budget of US$ 3.6 billion in 2018 alone.
Thiago also served as a professor at IESB from February 2018 to July 2018, and as a collaborator professor at Universidade de Brasília and Instituto Brasiliense de Direito Público - IDP in 2016. Additionally, they worked as a data scientist at the Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Econômica from September 2014 to May 2016. During this time, they co-developed and maintained CEREBRO, an app that utilized machine learning, time series econometrics, and graph theory to mine government procurement data and detect evidence of bid rigging in all non-classified federal government bidding processes in Brazil.
Thiago Marzagão's education history includes obtaining a Ph.D. in Political Science / Econometrics from The Ohio State University, attending from 2010 to 2014. Prior to that, they earned an M.A. in International Relations / Econometrics from the Universidade de Brasília, attending from 2005 to 2007. In addition to their formal education, they have also obtained various certifications, including "Natural Language Processing with Probabilistic Models" and "Natural Language Processing with Classification and Vector Spaces" from deeplearning.ai in August 2020 and July 2020, respectively. Thiago has also completed certifications in Deep Learning, Sequence Models, Convolutional Neural Networks, and Deep Reinforcement Learning from Coursera and Udacity in 2018, along with certifications in several other courses related to machine learning and data science.
