Amanda Kotchon has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Amanda began their career as a Lab Assistant at the University of Alberta in 2007. Amanda then worked as a Rotating Equipment Support Intern at Enbridge Pipelines in 2008. In 2009, Amanda served as a Soil Mechanics Research Assistant at the University of Alberta.

In 2010, they held two research assistant positions, first at Newcastle University where they worked on Finite Element Analysis, and then at the University of Alberta where they pursued their M.Sc. degree. During this time, they led the development of an optical measurement system for detecting tire damage and conducted graduate-level research work in fluid mechanics.

From 2011 to 2014, Amanda worked as a self-taught Pinball Repair & Restoration contractor, specializing in repairing and restoring pinball machines from various eras.

In 2013, they joined Flow International as a Junior Mechanical Engineer and later became a Mechanical Engineer in 2015 until 2016.

Since 2016, Amanda has been with Fives Lund LLC, initially as a Controls Engineer and currently as the Controls Engineering Manager as of March 2022.

Throughout their career, Amanda has presented research findings at international conferences, published peer-reviewed papers, and received recognition for their teaching abilities, including a student-nominated teaching award.

Amanda Kotchon pursued their education in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta. From 2005 to 2010, they completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following this, they furthered their studies at the same institution and obtained a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from 2010 to 2012.
