Christopher Schmidt has a strong background in the healthcare industry, with extensive experience in both clinical and administrative roles. Christopher began their career in 1990 with the US Navy, where they served in various positions, including Emergency Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Director, and Emergency Management Officer. Christopher retired as a Commander in the Nurse Corps in 2012. Following their military career, Schmidt joined Flagler Hospital in 2013. Christopher initially worked as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner and then transitioned to the role of Director of the hospital's 48-bed Emergency Care Center. In 2017, they were promoted to the position of Vice President, Quality & Experience. In this role, they are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the 335-bed acute-care facility. Schmidt has consistently demonstrated a commitment to clinical excellence and patient safety throughout their career.
Christopher Schmidt has a Bachelor's Degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse from Florida State University, which was earned between 1986 and 1990. Christopher also obtained a Master's Degree in Emergency Room/Trauma Nursing/Emergency Nurse Practitioner from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston) between 1997 and 1999. Christopher later pursued Health/Health Care Administration/Management studies at Southern New Hampshire University from 1995 to 1997. Currently, Christopher is completing their Doctorate in Nursing Practice at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, with an expected completion date in 2022.
