James Mullins has a diverse work experience spanning across various companies. James started their career in 2004 at 3G Engineering as a Design Engineer, where they worked until 2010. In 2006, they joined Deakin University as a Senior Research Fellow and later took on roles as a Commercialization Manager, Project Manager for FLAIM Trainer, and Associate Professor. James worked at Deakin University until 2017. In 2017, James joined FLAIM Systems as the Chief Technology Officer, and in 2019, they briefly took on the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer until 2020.

James Mullins earned their Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from Deakin University, which they completed from 1999 to 2002. James further pursued their education at Deakin University, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Robotics and Haptics from 2003 to 2007.
