Arlizia Smith, M.Ed., currently serves as the State Regional Literacy Director for both The Florida Department of Education and the University of South Florida, focusing on improving literacy achievement across the state. With extensive experience in education, Arlizia has held various roles including Adjunct Faculty Instructor at Nova Southeastern University, Education Consultant, and Literacy Coach. Previous positions include Associate Instructor at Miami Dade College, Field Supervisor for Teachers of Tomorrow, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Newpoint Education Partners, where strategic plans were implemented to enhance academic performance. Arlizia has notably contributed to raising literacy levels among at-risk students during tenure as Director of Reading at Accelerated Learning Solutions and has a comprehensive background in developing instructional strategies and teacher training within Broward County Public Schools. Arlizia holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Humanities from Lesley University.
