Russ Smith started their work experience as a Venture Capital Intern at Updata Partners in 2005. Russ then moved on to work as Listed Derivatives at Capstone from 2007 to 2010. Following that, they joined Mako Global Derivatives as Listed Derivatives in 2010 for a year. Since 2011, Russ has been at Flexcraft, where they initially served as Finance, IT, and Operations. Currently, they hold the role of President at Flexcraft.

Russ Smith attended Trinity College-Hartford from 2003 to 2007, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. During their time at Trinity College-Hartford, they studied Computer Science, Economics, and Legal Studies (Law). In 2006, they also briefly attended the University of Sydney as part of their Computer Science studies. In addition to their formal education, Russ Smith has obtained certifications in Business Metrics for Data Driven Companies from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as the Series 63 and Series 7 certifications from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
