Emma Swanson

Emma Swanson is currently a GIS Technician at FLO Analytics. Prior to that, they worked as a GIS Analyst at Houston ISD from September 2019 to January 2022. In that role, they advised internal clients and delivered geospatial services on enrollment trends to support marketing campaigns and re-engagement efforts. Emma also Demonstrated strong judgement while managing internal client and external vendor relationships surrounding services, licensing, and software procurement processes.

In their previous role, Emma also developed and managed project plans related to address validation and accuracy for student records. Through geospatial analysis discovered 12% of addresses were invalid. Identified root causes of error, implementing quality control process to prevent in future.

Contributed as a technical advisor toward efforts that address the campus and parent’s needs relating to enrollment tool functionality and accessibility. Utilized geocoder API knowledge to increase performance of address locator tools.

Identified areas via ArcGIS Pro of enrollment reduction during Covid-19 and reported to senior leadership to guide decision making.

Serve as the sole “Subject Matter Expert” linking geospatial analysis and Census Bureau data related to school attendance boundaries.

Actively participate in staff recruitment and retention activities, interviewing candidates for open positions and selecting summer interns for the department. Coordinate and lead department social events.

Emma Swanson has a Bachelor of Arts from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where they majored in geography and minored in history and Middle East studies. Emma also has an advanced diploma from Loudoun County High School.
