Robert James has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Robert started their career as a GPT - System X Commissioning Engineer at GPT ltd in 1988, where they were responsible for project management, customer liaison, and leading a team of engineers. In 1996, they joined Mitel Telecom as a Technical Support Engineer, providing 1st Line Technical Support and solutions for field engineers and customer communications managers. Robert then worked as an Operations & Maintenance Engineer at ntl - Switch from 1997 to 1999, where they performed maintenance and repair of various network platforms and carried out upgrades and expansions. From 1999 to 2009, they held the role of Regional Platform Operations Manager at Virgin Media, where they managed a team of engineers and ensured the operational development, maintenance, and security of various platforms supporting digital television and broadband services. Lastly, Robert worked for Flomatik as a Project Manager, successfully managing multiple projects for Virgin Media's TV Program Delivery Team from 2009 to the present.

Robert James has a comprehensive education history in the field of engineering. In 1983, they attended West Gloucestershire College for Further Education, where they pursued a degree in General Engineering (with a focus on Electrical, Electronic, and Mechanical). This program lasted until 1985. After completing their OND degree, Robert James enrolled in the University of the West of England from 1985 to 1988. During this period, they obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Sandwich).

In terms of additional certifications, Robert James achieved the Atern Agile Project Management Practitioner certification in 2013. Robert obtained this certification from the DSDM Consortium in March 2013.
