Manjit K. Misra

Manjit K. Misra is the founder of FloMetrix and a Professor of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering department at Iowa State University. He is also the Director of the globally renowned Seed Science Center, Director of the Global Food Security Consortium, the Founding Director of the Biosafety Institute for Genetically Modified Agricultural Products (BIGMAP), and the endowed Chair of Seed, Science and Technology at Iowa State University.

Misra earned a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering in India; and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Misra is a researcher with over $40M in external funding, an educator with 140 publications and an innovator with six patents. He has received a number of awards for his leadership including the "Distinguished Service Award" from the American Seed Trade Association and the "Order of the Knoll Faculty Award" from Iowa State University.

Recently appointed as chair of the USDA National Genetic Resources Advisory Council (NGRAC), Misra has served on more than 60 local, national, and international boards and committees. These include the steering committee for Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) International Conference on Biotechnology, the Scientific Advisory Council of the American Seed Research Foundation, and the Board of Directors of the Iowa Seed Association, the Iowa Crop Improvement Association, and the "First the Seed Foundation."
