Courtney Clayton

Courtney Clayton currently serves as the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning for Florence 1 Schools since February 2023. Previously, Courtney was the Dean of the School of Education at Francis Marion University from July 2021 to February 2023 and held the position of Associate Dean of Academic Programs, Assessment and Accreditation, as well as Associate Professor at the University of Mary Washington from August 2009 to May 2021. Earlier in a teaching role, Courtney taught at the International School of Boston from August 2002 to May 2009, working with students across various age groups, primarily as an English classroom teacher and ESL specialist. Education credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in French Literature from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Arts in Education from the University of San Francisco, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction: Language and Literacy Development from Boston College.
