Derek Phillips has extensive experience in the field of financial aid and customer service. Derek started their career in 1995 as an Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Florida Atlantic University, where they managed the administration of Federal loan programs and served as a liaison for guarantee agencies, lenders, and students. In 2000, they worked as a Marketing/Outreach Representative at the Florida Department of Education, providing customer service, training, and technical assistance to postsecondary institutions. Derek then became the Financial Aid Director at AMERICAN INTERCONTINENTAL UNIVERSITY, where they resolved student inquiries, counseled on application procedures, and administered Federal Title IV Programs. Derek also served as a Funeral Home Attendant at McWhites Funeral Home, providing support and assistance to grieving families. Most recently, Derek worked as an Associate Director of Financial Aid at Florida Atlantic University, advising students on financial aid options and processing award revisions. Derek was also a member of FASFAA, an organization related to financial aid, from 2002 to 2016.
Derek Phillips attended Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College at Baton Rouge from 1978 to 1982, where they obtained a degree in Business with a focus on Business Management.
