Steven Chew

VP, Service Lines at Tampa General Hospital

Steven Chew is the Vice President of Service Lines for Tampa General Hospital (TGH), a nationally renowned nonprofit academic medical center. Chew is responsible for the growth and development of key service lines at TGH, including orthopaedic, neuroscience, parathyroid and thyroid, heart and vascular, and women’s and children’s services. Chew works closely with medical directors and senior administrators in charge of those service lines to assess, plan, develop, implement and execute strategies and tactics to improve service and outcomes and to achieve continuous business growth for optimal financial performance.

Prior to his current role, Chew served as the Senior Administrator of the neuroscience, orthopedics and infectious diseases service lines, focusing on developing and executing the vision, strategic plan, relationships and growth initiatives for these service lines.

Chew joined TGH in 2008 in Materials Management, and quickly became involved with operations through creating relationships and connections with physicians, clinicians, and bedside team members. He worked his way up through Surgical Services and then into hospital operations as the Director of Operations Management, and then into service line leadership. Chew has excelled in his 13-plus years at TGH at building relationships, collaborating with his colleagues, understanding operations and strategy, effectively implementing new strategies, and successfully leading his areas of responsibility. Chew graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in biology and organic chemistry and holds a Master of Health Administration from the University of South Florida.
