The Florida Lottery
John Whitaker is an accomplished IT professional with extensive experience in technical support and analysis. Currently serving as an IR Support Analyst II for The Florida Lottery since March 2022, John previously held various positions at Florida State University from August 2011 to March 2022, including Information Technology Support Specialist and Technical Support Analyst, where responsibilities included assisting faculty and staff, maintaining classroom technology, and supporting over 2000 students. Earlier roles included IT Consultant positions at Sunrise Community, Inc., focused on desktop support and contract updates. John earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and History from Florida State University in December 2011.
The Florida Lottery
In 1986, Florida voters authorized a lottery through a constitutional amendment, enacted by a two-to-one margin that would use its proceeds to enhance public education in Florida. Governor Bob Martinez and the Florida Legislature established the Florida Lottery with the mission of maximizing revenues for education to allow the people of Florida to benefit from significant additional monies while providing the best lottery games available. Over the history of the Florida Lottery, both goals have been accomplished.
