Mary Healey has a diverse work experience in the field of fitness and wellness. Mary currently serves as the Assistant Director of Marketing & Communication at the Florida SBDC Network. Prior to this, they worked as the Assistant Director of Fitness & Wellness at Old Dominion University from 2019 to 2022. Mary also held the position of Coordinator of Group Exercise at James Madison University from 2015 to 2019.
Before their roles in the university settings, Mary worked as a Health Fitness & Group Exercise Specialist at L&T Health and Fitness from 2012 to 2015. Mary'sresponsibilities included developing and instructing various group fitness classes, monitoring the safety of fitness center patrons, and ensuring the proper functioning of equipment.
Furthermore, Mary gained experience as an Intern-Strength and Conditioning Coach and a Fitness Graduate Assistant at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville from 2013 to 2015. Mary also worked as a Group Fitness Supervisor at the University of West Florida from 2011 to 2012, where they designed and marketed incentive programs, supervised group fitness instructors, and maintained fitness studios.
Mary Healey earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Health, Leisure & Exercise Science from the University of West Florida, which they attended from 2009 to 2013. Mary then pursued a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in (Dual) Exercise Physiology and Sport & Exercise Behavior at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville from 2013 to 2015. In addition to their formal education, Mary obtained several certifications, including Health Coach Certification from the American Council on Exercise (ACE Fitness) in June 2021. Mary also holds certifications such as PaddleFit Core Coach, PGB Amature Coach, Indoor Cycling Instructor, Group Fitness Instructor, Indoor Cycle Instructor, First Aid, CPR & AED, Certified Exercise Physiologist, and CrossFit Level 1.
