Jorge Gonzalez is president and chief executive officer of The St. Joe Company, a Florida-based diversified real estate development and operating company with residential, commercial, and hospitality segments (NYSE: JOE). The company has developed over a dozen master-planned residential communities in addition to developing, owning, and operating a broad portfolio of real estate assets including apartments, commercial shopping centers, office and industrial parks, hotels, restaurants, golf courses, marinas, beach clubs, and a private resort membership club.
Jorge holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Florida State University and was the commencement speaker at the FSU 2018 summer graduation ceremonies. He serves or has served on various community, civic, and business-related organizations including the Florida Chamber Board of Directors, Enterprise Florida Board of Directors, Bay Economic Development Alliance (former Chairman), Northwest Florida Manufacturer’s Council, Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center, FSU Panama City Development Board (former President), The St. Joe Community Foundation Board of Trustees, and Panama City Beach Chamber Board of Directors. Florida Trend has named Jorge as one of Florida’s Most Influential Business Leaders. Jorge and the company are strong believers in supporting education and in 2019, the company vacated its corporate headquarters to allow for the establishment of the Magnet Innovation Center, the first Science Technology and Engineering (STEAM) public high school in Walton County, which was awarded the 2020 Florida Commissioner of Education’s Business Recognition Award for a commitment to bringing positive change and implementing bold and innovative approaches to improve the academic performance of students in Florida.
