Mark Longair has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Mark began their career as a Senior Software Developer at Ideaworks3D from 1999 to 2002. Following this, they pursued a PhD at the University of Edinburgh from 2004 to 2009. Mark then worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher and INCF Swiss node coordinator at the Institute of Neuroinformatics, Uni/ETH Zurich from 2010 to 2012. Mark later joined mySociety as a Developer from 2012 to 2013, and then as a Senior Developer from 2014 to 2018. Currently, Mark holds the position of Head of Development at Flourish since September 2018.

Mark Longair's education history begins in 1995 when they attended the University of Cambridge, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science in 1998. In 1998, they enrolled at The University of Edinburgh to pursue a Master of Science degree in Artificial Intelligence, completing it in 1999. Mark returned to The University of Edinburgh for further studies, obtaining a Master of Science degree in Neuroinformatics in 2004. Mark then pursued a PhD in Neuroinformatics at The University of Edinburgh, completing it in 2007.
