Gregory Segala

CEO at FluoSphera

Gregory Segala has a diverse work experience in scientific research and entrepreneurship. Gregory co-founded FluoSphera in 2019, where they served as the CEO and co-inventor of a multi-tissue test system. The technology developed by FluoSphera uses microfluidics-based cell encapsulation and high-content imaging to mimic and track communications between human organs. Gregory also worked as a project manager and business developer at FluoSphera.

Prior to FluoSphera, Gregory worked at the University of Geneva as a scientific collaborator and a postdoctoral researcher in Didier Picard's laboratory. During this time, they conducted research projects on the control of transcription and chromatin structure. Gregory was also involved in the i-Teams program, where they designed a business plan for an invention from the University of Geneva and won first prize. Gregory identified unmet needs and established a financial plan for the possible creation of a start-up.

Gregory's work experience also includes being the main supervisor of iGEM Geneva 2019, where they created an educative program at the University of Geneva and managed the design of an innovative project in biotechnology.

Additionally, they worked as a Ph.D. student at INSERM in Marc Poirot's laboratory, where they conducted research on the molecular mechanisms of tumour suppressor metabolites and the anticancer drug Tamoxifen. Gregory utilized cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry methods in their research.

Overall, Gregory has demonstrated skills in scientific research, project management, business development, and entrepreneurship.

Gregory Segala completed their education from 2003 to 2012 at Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biotechnology - Oncology. In addition to their academic achievements, they have also obtained several certifications, including a Business Concept Certificate from Innosuisse - Swiss Innovation Agency, a Statistics and R certification from HarvardX - An Online Learning Initiative by Harvard University through edX, and an EF SET English Certificate (C1 Advanced) from EF Standard English Test (EF SET) in the year 2020.
