Nicolas Gielis

Nicolas Gielis is an accomplished engineering and strategy professional with extensive experience in the energy sector. Currently serving as the Head of Compression Installations at Fluxys since November 2023, Nicolas leads a team of 45 in the operations and maintenance of gas compression installations in Belgium, focusing on efficiency, cost reduction, digital transformation, and environmental sustainability. Prior to this role, Nicolas was the Strategy Manager at Elia from October 2019 to November 2023, where responsibilities included defining strategies related to the energy transition. Nicolas's previous tenure at Fluxys involved various leadership positions, including Innovation Manager and LNG Project Manager, where significant projects like the extension of the Zeebrugge LNG Terminal were successfully managed. Additionally, Nicolas has held board positions at LNG Link and Mahon Shipping and completed an MBA at Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management as well as a Master’s in Electro-mechanics Engineering from ULB.
