Shelvie Fernan's work experience begins in 2016 as a Peer Mentor at NAIT, where they provided mentorship support to others. In 2019, they became a Job Placement Consultant for Manpower Alberta, specifically working with TECHCareers. Later in the same year, Fernan became the CEO and Co-Founder of Fly and Fetch, a shipping company focused on affordable and efficient international shipping using travelers as package carriers.

Shelvie Fernan's education history includes obtaining a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Marketing from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in the years 2020-2021. Prior to that, Shelvie also earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from NAIT in the years 2014-2019. Before attending NAIT, Shelvie had completed a Certificate in Fashion Styling from the Fashion Institute of the Philippines in 2013. Additionally, Shelvie had enrolled in the University of Santo Tomas in 2010, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Travel Management.

In terms of additional certifications, Shelvie obtained the following: Hero Training Summer 2021 from Draper University in August 2021, Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship from Draper University in October 2020, and 24 Hour Thinkathon - Our Digital Future from the Council of the European Union in November 2019. Shelvie also completed the Startup School program from Y Combinator in September 2019. Additionally, Shelvie acquired various certifications from Lynda.com such as Content Marketing Foundations, LinkedIn Profiles for Social Business Success, Marketing Tools: Digital Marketing, Learn Social Media Monitoring, and Learning to Write Marketing Copy, all in 2019. Shelvie also attended the X-Culture Symposium in Macerata, Italy in July 2018. Moreover, Shelvie completed the Google Ads Fundamentals certification from Google in April 2019. There are two certifications where the obtained month and year are not available: FOIP: Focus on Privacy from the Government of Alberta and Leadership Program Level 1 from NAIT.
