Pat East is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in entrepreneurship, marketing, and education. Currently serving as Executive Director at The Mill, an entrepreneurship center in Indiana, Pat East is committed to launching and accelerating startups. In addition, Pat East is a Principal at Flywheel Fund, which focuses on investing in early-stage technology startups in Indiana. Previously, Pat East co-founded Hanapin Marketing, a pioneering digital advertising agency, serving as CEO until its acquisition in 2020. Pat East has also held leadership roles at Indiana University, teaching courses in internet marketing, and at Author Solutions, Inc. Pat East holds a BA in English from Wabash College and completed executive education in venture capital at Stanford University.

Flywheel Fund is a member-managed capital fund based in Bloomington, Indiana. We invest in early-stage and high-potential startups. Flywheel Fund is committed to investing a minimum of 13% of our fund to Black founders and teams. In-person office hours at The Mill: Thursdays, 9:30-11:30 We screen companies continuously to find the one that will be considered for investment every other month. The three main criteria we look for are: 1. Team 2. Market 3. Product Because we invest in early, team is extremely important. And in particular for software and technology, we’re looking for capital-efficient companies.
