Mamati Tembe

Mamati Tembe is a seasoned professional in the agriculture and biotechnology sectors, currently serving as the Business Director for Africa and Commercial Lead for East and Southern Africa at FMC Corporation since July 2023. Previously, Tembe held key positions at Bayer from January 2014 to June 2023, including Head of Public Affairs Science and Sustainability for Africa and Commercial Lead for Southern African countries. With extensive experience as an Agri-food Consultant for the United Nations Environment Programme and as a Managing Member/Consultant at Kazamati AgriBio, Tembe has contributed significantly to agribusiness and biosafety initiatives across multiple African nations. A background in biotechnology was further developed during tenure at Monsanto, where Tembe managed government relations and public affairs while also coordinating market development activities. Academically, Tembe holds an MBA in Technology & Entrepreneurship from Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées and a BSc in Agriculture from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
