Simone Cortese

Simone Cortese has extensive work experience in the financial technology industry. In 2017, they began working at Clearmatics as a USC Technical Product Manager until 2019. From there, they joined Fnality International as the Director of Product Management. Simone has also held roles such as Senior Lecturer and Module Lead at the University of West London, where they focused on digital enterprise and blockchain technology. In addition, they have served as an advisor for various SME networks, providing expertise in fintech, digital assets, and decentralized finance. Currently, Simone is an Associate at the UK Centre for Blockchain Technologies and a Rising Leader Fellow at the Aspen Institute UK. Simone is also involved in other advisory and networking positions related to fintech and web3 technology.

Simone Cortese has a diverse education history. They completed a Cybersecurity Programme with a focus on risk management at Harvard University. They also pursued a Fintech Programme in finance and financial management services at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. Simone holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Southampton. They also have a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Solid State/Condensed Matter Physics and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca. Their education journey started with a Diploma di Liceo Scientifico in Science & Humanities from Liceo Scientifico Vittorio Bachelet. In addition to their formal education, Simone has obtained various certifications in areas such as ESG and climate change, negotiation, financial statements, and decentralized finance (DeFi).
