Javier de Ana Arbeloa

Javier de Ana Arbeloa has a diverse work experience in the medical technology industry. Javier is currently working as the Sr. Director of Product Development at Focal Medical, Inc., where they lead a team focused on developing drug delivery platform technologies for improving patient outcomes in oncology, gene therapy, and immunotherapy. Prior to this, Javier held the same position at Advanced Chemotherapy Technologies, Inc., where they worked on developing chemotherapy delivery solutions for difficult-to-treat cancers, with a particular focus on a novel pancreatic cancer drug delivery device.

Before joining Focal Medical and Advanced Chemotherapy Technologies, Javier worked at Ximedica as the Director of Program Management and Site Operations. In this role, they provided integrated research, development, regulatory, and manufacturing services to medical device makers, consumer healthcare companies, and healthcare providers. Javier also served as a Program Director at Ximedica, offering a variety of solutions for product development.

Javier's experience in the medical technology industry also includes their role as the Co-Founder and VP of Research & Development at Novocor Medical Systems, where they successfully created and executed the company's business plan, assembled a lean and efficient team, and obtained $2 million in private funding.

Additionally, Javier has held positions at Arbel Development Group, LLC as the President, Bioventus as an Engineering Manager, and Smith & Nephew as an Engineering Manager and Sr. Research Engineer. In these roles, they were responsible for new product development, managing projects from idea to launch, leading multidisciplinary teams, and conducting research and testing related to class III medical devices.

Earlier in their career, Javier worked at Sistemas e Instrumentacion, SA as a Project Manager, where they planned and managed communication systems projects, and at Indra Defensa y Tecnologías Duales, S.A. as a Software Engineer, where they developed software for an on-board surveillance aircraft radio frequency communications system.

Throughout their career, Javier has demonstrated a strong ability to lead teams, develop innovative solutions, and drive successful product development in the medical technology industry.

Javier de Ana Arbeloa began their education by earning a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Universidad de Zaragoza. Javier attended the university from 1990 to 1995. After completing their undergraduate studies, they pursued further education at the University of Michigan. From 1999 to 2001, they obtained a Masters of Engineering degree in Biomedical Engineering. Following this, they continued their studies at the same institution and earned a Masters of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from 2001 to 2003. Lastly, Javier de Ana Arbeloa completed their academic journey by completing a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan from 1999 to 2004.
