Michael Derbort

Michael Derbort has over 20 years of experience in information technology management and consulting. Michael is currently the Director of Information Technology at Folium Biosciences, where they specialize in hemp-derived ingredients and finished products. In previous roles, they served as an Information Technology Consultant for FirePower Technology, Inc. and Qualstar Corporation, where they implemented new infrastructures and reduced operating costs. Michael also worked as the Manager of Information Technology - North America for Fenix Outdoor / Fjällräven, overseeing outdoor brand development and sales. Prior to that, they held positions such as Director of Information Technology and Facilities at XIO Storage and Applied Films Corporation, where they successfully led data center relocations and oversaw international IT staff. Michael also worked as an Enterprise Architect for Applied Materials, managing mergers and acquisitions and developing integration plans. Earlier in their career, they were a Senior Technical Advisor at NxTrend Technology and a Manager of Information Systems at Avalanche/Nighthawk Industries, where they implemented ERP systems and managed custom cable assembly manufacturing.

Michael Derbort's education history includes a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business Information Systems from the University of Phoenix, which they obtained from 1998 to 2000. Prior to this, they attended the University of Colorado Colorado Springs from 1996 to 1998, where they studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Furthermore, they pursued Computer Science at Christian Brothers University from 1991 to 1993. In addition to their degrees, Derbort has obtained certifications in IT Service Management. Michael obtained the ITIL® Version 4 Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management from AXELOS Global Best Practice in July 2019, and the ITIL Version 2 Foundation Certification in IT Service Management from the Council for Service Management and Education in January 2008.
