Lisa-Marie Hemerijckx is a highly engaged PhD fellow at Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek - Vlaanderen (FWO) and a PhD researcher at KU Leuven, focusing on the spatial analysis of food systems transformations in rapidly growing African cities. Since November 2019, Lisa-Marie has been awarded a personal FWO PhD fellowship for this research project. Lisa-Marie also serves as a teaching assistant in the department of Earth & Environmental Sciences at KU Leuven. Previous experience includes a GIS internship at GIM - smart geo insights, where feasibility assessments for Belmap extensions were conducted, a role as a job student for market research at De Lijn, and an internship with the European Commission providing administrative assistance. Lisa-Marie holds a Master’s degree in Geography with a specialization in GIS and Spatial Modelling and a Bachelor's degree in Geography, both from KU Leuven, alongside an European Baccalaureate from the European School Varese.
