Claire Shortt has been working in the healthcare industry since 2009. Claire began their career as a PhD student at the National Children's Research Centre, where they studied the role of DNA supercoiling and how it impacts the level of motility and infection of Campylobacter jejuni. In 2014, they moved to Bio-Sciences LTD as a Sales Executive. In 2015, they joined NYU Langone Health as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where they studied various mechanisms that could help improve cartilage repair and help reduce further cartilage damage in knee osteoarthritis patients. In 2018, they joined FoodMarble as Lead Scientist and VP Clinical. As Lead Scientist, they were bridging the gap between consumers and healthcare, and as VP Clinical, they were responsible for launching a fully reimbursable medical device platform in the US in 2021 and 2022, as well as working with key opinion leaders in the area of gastroenterology to help change how healthcare is delivered.
Claire Shortt obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Infection Biology from University College Dublin between 2009 and 2013. Claire also obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Microbiology, General from University College Dublin between 2005 and 2009. Additionally, Claire has obtained several certifications from various institutions, including Influencing without Authority, Leading a Project Team, Managing Project Risk, Essentials of Project Management, The Business of Science for Scientists, Procurement and Payables, and Project Management Professional (PMP).
