Yao Wang

Senior Scientist at Forcyte Biotechnologies

Yao Wang is a highly experienced scientist with a diverse background in biotechnology and academia. Yao started their career as an undergraduate researcher at the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2003 and continued their undergraduate studies at Beijing University until 2005.

In 2005, Yao joined UCLA as a Graduate Student Researcher, where their research focused on pathogen-host interactions during viral infections. During their time at UCLA, they made significant contributions to the field, including the discovery of a previously unknown nuclear-trafficking pathway during paramyxovirus infection and the identification of a novel class of antiviral agents.

After completing their graduate studies in 2011, Yao became a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UCLA, where they continued their research in developing novel antiviral agents and drug target identification. Yao also used systems approaches to study viral and cellular gene functions. Yao's major accomplishments during this role include the development of assays to detect different stages of viral infection.

In 2012, Yao took on the role of Technology Transfer Fellow at UCLA, where they focused on transferring research findings into real-world applications.

In 2013, Yao joined EpicGenetics, Inc as a Scientist, where they developed a Luminex-based multiplex cytokine assay kit for the diagnosis of fibromyalgia. Yao also optimized patient blood sample processing and storage protocols during their time at the company.

Yao's next position was with MatelyHealth Holdings, LLC as a Lab Consultant/Scientist from 2015 to 2018.
