Kevin Ryan served as the United States Attorney for the Northern District of California from 2002 to 2007. During this period, his office pursued successful investigations and prosecutions in diverse arenas including white-collar crime, securities fraud, intellectual property, computer hacking, healthcare fraud, environmental crime, public corruption, and violent and organized crime.

Prior to being appointed United States Attorney by President George W. Bush, Ryan served on the San Francisco Superior Court, where he was the Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division. Ryan began his legal career as a Deputy District Attorney in Alameda County, where he served until being appointed to the bench by Governor Pete Wilson . From 2008 to 2009, he served as both the Director of the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice and as a Deputy Chief of Staff to Mayor Gavin Newsom.

Subsequent to his service as United States Attorney, he was a litigation partner at a notable law firm, Allen Matkins. Ryan is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he focuses on white-collar crime and litigation strategy.
