Staff Scientist, Genomics Discovery at Foresite Labs

Jonathan Packer has a diverse work experience that spans several industries. Jonathan is currently a Staff Scientist in Genomics Discovery at Foresite Labs, where they have been working since 2019. Prior to this, they held roles as a Senior Scientist and Scientist in the same department. At Foresite Labs, Jonathan is involved in genomics research and discovery.

Before joining Foresite Labs, Jonathan worked as a Graduate Student at the University of Washington from 2015 to 2019. During this time, they focused on using single-cell RNA sequencing data to reconstruct developmental trajectories in the C. elegans embryo.

Jonathan also had internships at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in 2014 and 2015, where they gained experience in bioinformatics. As a Bioinformatics Intern, they developed a computational pipeline for PheWAS analysis and created an algorithm for copy number variation detection in exome sequencing data. Their work at Regeneron led to significant discoveries in liver disease protection and familial hypercholesterolemia.

In 2013, Jonathan interned as a Data Science Intern at Mortar Data Inc., where they designed and implemented a recommender system algorithm for media and e-commerce companies. Jonathan also had internships as a Software Engineering Intern at Ipreo in 2012 and 2011.

Jonathan Packer received their High School Diploma from Hackley School in 2011. Jonathan then pursued higher education at Columbia University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Operations Research in 2015. Following this, Jonathan attended the University of Washington from 2015 to 2019, during which they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Genome Sciences.
