Sarah E. Ford has worked in the forestry industry since 2000. Sarah E. began their career as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Vermont Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources. During this time, they researched and analyzed silvicultural approaches to enhance carbon storage and old-growth structure in northern hardwood forests, and taught Silviculture, Environmental Problem Solving and Impact Assessment, and Nature and Culture courses. Sarah E. also worked as a Forestry Field Technician and Crew Leader for the University of Vermont, and as a Water Quality Educator. In 2004, they worked as a Research Assistant for Iracambi Rainforest Research and Conservation. From 2006 to 2019, they worked as a Conservation Planner and Conservation Assistant for the Tahoe Resource Conservation District, where they developed and implemented Lake Tahoe stewardship programs and multiple community restoration and conservation projects. Since 2019, they have been working as a Consulting Forester for Butternut Mountain Farm. Most recently, they have been appointed as the Chief Forestry Officer for Forest Carbon Works, where they support small landowners with technical consulting and development services for forest carbon offset projects.
Sarah E. Ford obtained a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Natural Resources from the University of Vermont in 2003. Sarah E. then went on to receive a Master of Science in Forestry and Natural Resources from the University of Vermont in 2015. In 2020, they obtained a Vermont Licensed Forester certification from the State of Vermont and is also a Certified Forester with the Society of American Foresters.
