Marie Smith

Marie Smith has a strong background in planning and policy roles. Marie started their career at the Sheffield Wildlife Trust as a Policy Officer in 2000 and then moved on to the Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils in 2001, where they held the position of Planning Officer. In 2004, they were promoted to the role of Principal Planning Policy Officer and remained in that position until 2008.

In 2008, they joined the Forest Heath District Council as Planning Service Manager and held this position until 2013. During their time at Forest Heath District Council, they were responsible for managing the planning services.

Since 2013, Marie has been working at the West Suffolk Council, first as a Planning Service Manager and currently as the Strategic Planning Service Manager. In their current role, they are responsible for strategic planning and overseeing the planning services.
