Brian Brashaw

Assistant Director - Wood Innovations, State & Private Forestry at Forest Service

Brian Brashaw is an accomplished professional in the field of forestry and wood products innovation. Currently serving as the Assistant Director for the Wood Innovations program at the U.S. Forest Service since May 2015, Brian has been instrumental in utilizing market-based approaches to enhance forest management and support rural economies. Previously, Brian held the position of Program Director at the University of Minnesota Duluth's Natural Resources Research Institute from September 1991 to May 2015, overseeing a comprehensive research program aimed at advancing wood products manufacturing and economic growth in Minnesota and the surrounding Lake States. Academically, Brian holds a Ph.D. in Wood Science from Mississippi State University, a Master's degree in Material Science and Engineering from Washington State University, and a Bachelor's degree in Forestry from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
